Graph-Based Computational Methods for Efficient Management and Energy Conservation in Smart Cities

Computational methods play a significant role in reducing energy consumption cities. Many different sensor networks (e.g., traffic intensity sensors, intelligent cameras, air quality monitoring systems) generate data that can be useful for both efficient management (including planning) and usage. Street lighting is one of the most contributors to urban power consumption. This paper presents summary recent attempts use computational reduce usage by systems, with special focus on graph-based methods. Such algorithms require all necessary integrated, order function properly: this task not trivial, very time-consuming; therefore, second part proposes novel approach integrating datasets automating optimisation process. In two practical examples, we show how spatially triggered graph transformations (STGT) used build model based road network map, locations street data, introduce semantic relations between objects, including utilisation existing infrastructure, planning development maximise efficiency.
